The Spirit of Dartmoor
The essence of Dartmoor is captured through the superb photographs of PeterWhite. From familiar scenes of Dartmoor ponies on the open moor to delightful out-ofthe- way places that only a seasoned explorer of the moor would know, this little book will delight all who see it. PeterWhite has combined his detailed knowledge of the area and his love of its landscapes to produce this collection of beautiful photographs. Individually they capture the feel and the mood of particular places. Collectively they convey the essential character of Dartmoor.
Peter White has lived in South Devon since 1967 and for most of that time worked for the Dartmoor National Park Authority. Retirement has given him more time to indulge his long-running love affair with the British landscape and, through his photography, to capture its beauty, drama and detail. He aims to portray an area in a way which enables its essential character to be understood, believing that the more we understand and appreciate a place, the better we will look after it. Dartmoor Moods, his first book, was published in 2003. Moods of the South Hams, his second, covers his other favourite stamping ground in South Devon.
