A Boot Up Swaledale

Swaledale the most northerly of the three main dales running through the Yorkshire Dales National Park offers both easy and more challenging walking in magnificent surroundings. The landscape now dominated by the local Swaledale sheep was only as little as 150 years ago an industrial landscape filled with the smoke and fumes from the lead mining industry.

In line with other books in the series 10 walks have been selected with the majority being short and easy; suitable for a half day with the family, but also including a couple more challenging walks to give a taste of the fell walking also available.The walks explore both the riverbank and the remains of the lead mining heritage.
